BODY IMAGE IN ADOLESCENTS
Body image is how you view your physical self. For example whether you feel you are attractive. For early teens, body image can be closely linked to self-esteem. Teens with high self-esteem know themselves well. They're realistic and find friends that like and appreciate them for who they are. People with high self-esteem usually feel more in control of their lives and know their own strengths and weaknesses. They have a generally positive Body Image. However some teens struggle with their self-esteem and body image when they begin puberty because it's a time when the body goes through many changes. These changes, combined with wanting to feel accepted by our friends, makes it tempting to compare ourselves with others. The trouble with that is, not everyone grows or develops at the same time or in the same way. Other factors include media, social groups, family relations, and religious groups. One way parents and teens alike can help this issue is by realizing that they are human. Parents- your kids watch you and look to you for guidance, so when you make a mistake say something along the lines of "well I'm human, we mess up" your teens will realize it is human nature to mess up sometimes. Teens - realize you are human and mistakes happen. focus on your good qualities instead of the ones you think are negative. puberty happens to everyone so that pimple you think is so huge, the popular cheerleader you have been idolizing, has one or had one too.

EATING DISORDERS IN ADOLESCENTS
Eating disorders are complex illnesses that affect adolescents with increasing frequency. They rank as the third most common chronic illness in adolescent females (1), with an incidence of up to 5% (2,3), a rate that has increased dramatically over the past three decades. Two major subgroups of the disorders are recognized: a restrictive form, in which food intake is severely limited (anorexia nervosa), and a bulimic form, in which binge eating episodes are followed by attempts to minimize the effects of overeating via vomiting, exercise or fasting (bulimia nervosa). Both anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa can be associated with serious body image problems. They hate the way they look and try to change it through these disorders. Rosewood center for recovery is a rehab facility that is used to help teens with eating disorders. They have 24/7 care options, http://rosewoodranch.com/
